What “cookies” means here
Websites can use cookies and similar browser storage to remember information. Tirtle uses browser local storage for the choices described below. Hosting and sign-in services may also use essential cookies to keep your session secure.
Essential storage
Essential technologies support sign-in, security, service delivery, and remembering your cookie choice. Your saved learning and application records are stored with your signed-in account on the server; they do not depend on accepting optional preferences.
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tirtle:cookie-choices:v1 | Remembers whether you allow optional preferences, with the date and notice version. | Choice is honored for 180 days, unless you change or clear it sooner. |
| __Host-tirtle-auth (and chunks) | Stores your Google sign-in session through Supabase in secure, HTTP-only cookies. | Refreshed during use; cleared from this browser when you sign out. |
| __Host-tirtle-auth-code-verifier | Secures the return from Google sign-in. | Removed after the sign-in exchange completes. |
| __Host-tirtle-account | Remembers your selected sign-in method or signed-out state. | Up to one year, or until cleared. |
| Hosting and sign-in technologies | Authenticate your session, protect the site, and route requests. | Controlled by the hosting and sign-in providers. |
Optional preferences
If you choose “Allow preferences,” Tirtle remembers the last main section you visited, such as Journeys or Progress. This is off until you choose to allow it. Declining it does not reduce access to practice, exams, or your application workspace.
| Item | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| tirtle:last-view:v1 | Returns you to your last main section on this browser. | Until you withdraw permission or clear browser storage; only read while your permission is current. |
No advertising or analytics trackers
This version of Tirtle does not add advertising or analytics cookies. The choices shown here apply to Tirtle’s optional preferences and do not change necessary settings belonging to your sign-in or hosting provider.
Change your mind anytime
Use Cookie choices in the footer to allow or decline preferences. Declining removes Tirtle’s saved optional navigation preference. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser. Blocking essential storage may affect sign-in or cause the choice prompt to reappear.
If your browser cannot save the choice, it applies to the current visit and Tirtle may ask again next time. For help, contact hello@tirtle.com. More about your records is in the privacy notice.
